Organizing Committee supports air tickets for selected candidates from the country of origin and the city around Indonesia to Bandung Husein Sastranegara Airport in economy class basis, including transportation to Site. Accommodation for the students (including lodging and meals) during the school will be provided by Local Organizing Committee.

Participants who need an invitation letter to apply for a visa should inform the LOC as soon as possible by e-mail (see the contacts). The LOC will issue a letter, which should be presented to the Embassy of Republic of Indonesia or Consulate General competent for the country of their current residence when applying for a visa, to selected students and to lecturers. Indonesia Government had granted visa on arrival favor to several countries to be able to purchase the visa on arrival facility upon their arrival in Indonesia's designed "International Gateway".
Please visit http://www.embassyofindonesia.org for the details.

Technical Remarks

AC Power

Indonesia uses 220V/50Hz AC power with German Type C,F or G sockets. Those who own appliances that require the same voltage, but have different connectors should bring travel adapter plugs. Participants from countries that use a lower voltage should always check if the device supports 220V.

WARNING : Never connect appliances that are designed for lower voltages such as 110V directly to 220V power!!!

Notebook power supplies and various chargers

Most notebook power supplies and chargers support a range of voltages. They should work fine. You'll either need a suitable ac cord or a travel adapter plug to connect them to our mains power.

Internet connection

Wireless internet connection will be available in the lecture room and guest room. Please contact LOC for details.

The topic of the lectures :

  • Basic processes of space plasma
  • Basic processes of the Earth’s upper atmosphere
  • Ionosphere – structure and dynamics
  • Processes in the equatorial ionosphere
  • Coupling process atmosphere and ionosphere
  • Measurement techniques and applications
  • Data Processing

The equatorial and low-latitude ionosphere is a key region in the space around the Earth for safe and reliable use of space by human beings, such as navigation by GNSS satellites and satellite-ground communications. This region has a highest plasma density around the earth, and is highly disturbed by plasma turbulence and irreguralities as well as electric currents. This region is also strongly affected by the solar radiation and solar wind from above, as well as dynamical and chemical variations of the neutral atmosphere from below. The Science Committee on Solar-Terrestrial Physics (SCOSTEP) under ICSU has started 5-year program VarSITI (Variability of the sun and its terrestrial impact, 2014-2018) to understand the solar variability and its impact on earth. With increasing interest on these ionospheric dynamics, we will have an international school on the equatorial and low-latitude ionosphere, in order to make capacity building of young researchers and graduate-course students in this field in Indonesia and neighboring countries
